It looks like my average views on my YouTube videos are going down instead of up and subscriber growth is almost non-existent. Apparently, I’m not doing something right, but I’m not sure what that is. I have to admit that it’s kinda discouraging when I’ve been working my butt off trying to grow and then someone like this comes along two months ago and puts out four videos and already has nearly two-million subscribers!
Also, discouraging when I have an email list of over 10,000 people who signed up through this site saying that they are interested in receiving emails of new site updates and videos but when I send out an email about a new video or blog post maybe 300 out of that 10,000 will actually click through and read the blog post or watch the video.
But then it looks like JWR’s Survival Blog is nearly dead too as are the prepper blogs.
But then there are several prepper related YouTube channels that seem to do well… for example that Canadian guy that puts out videos with a lot of stock video and slides woven in with his voice-overs, and that guy that walks around his yard and back and fouth in his driveway talking about how the sky looks that day… and then there is the guy that rambles on while stroking his beard…
That’s actually the reason that I started making YouTube videos was that the blog content format seemed to be dying yet YouTubers on the same topics seemed to be doing okay still. I think that was because they started several years ago… back when prepping and self-reliance was cool.
I’m late in the game on YouTube and I think that’s part of the reason it not really growing. But anyway, I think that I need to step back from making videos for a week or two and see if I can figure this out and decide where I should go from here.
