Get My Free Common Sense Living Checklist

The View From Appalachia

25 simple things you can do to live cheaper, calmer, and a little more prepared before life gets any harder.

I put this checklist together for folks who are tired of the noise, tired of the hype, and tired of feeling like everything is getting more expensive and more unstable.

This isn’t about panic. It’s not about fear. And it’s not about politics. It’s just practical, common-sense things you can do around the house and in your own life to save money, stay calmer, and be a little more prepared.

What’s Inside

In this free checklist, I cover simple things like:

  • Keeping a little extra food, water, and household supplies on hand
  • Saving money by stocking up before prices go higher
  • Making your home feel more peaceful and useful
  • Getting your important papers and phone numbers in order
  • Having backup ways to cook, see, and get by during outages
  • Paying attention in public without living scared
  • Building a life that doesn’t fall apart every time the world gets weird

I grew up here in Appalachia, and I grew up poor enough to know that common sense matters. When money is tight, you make do. When bad weather is coming, you get ready before it hits. And when the world outside your door starts acting crazy, you work on making home a little more solid.

That’s what this checklist is about.

No hype. No drama. No slick sales pitch. Just 25 simple things that can help you live a little cheaper, calmer, and more independently.

Why I Made This

A lot of people can feel that something is off. Prices are high. People are on edge. The news keeps everyone stirred up. Social media makes everything worse. And more folks are starting to realize that depending on the system for everything might not be the smartest way to live.

But the answer isn’t to sit around scared.

The answer is to get your own house in order, one simple step at a time.

Keep a little more food in the house. Save where you can. Learn how to fix a few things. Get out of debt if possible. Make home a place you actually want to be. Turn off some of the noise. Pay attention. Be useful. Be steady.

That kind of living may not be flashy, but it works.

And honestly, it’s the way a lot of us should have been living all along.
