Basic Prepper List of Items and Gear

  1. Water and Filtration (Approx. $150-$200)
  • Water Bottles: A couple of durable, reusable water bottles and or canteens ($20-$30)
  • Water Filtration System: A portable water filter like a Sawyer Mini ($20-$40)
  • Water Purification Tablets: In case the filter fails or gets lost ($10-$20)
  • Water Storage Containers: At least a few gallons worth of storage ($100-$110)
  1. Food Supplies (Approx. $150-$200)
  • Non-Perishable Food: Mostly canned goods, soups, stews, fruits, vegetables and meats ($100-$150)
  • Manual Can Opener: If you’ve stored canned goods ($10-$15)
  • Cooking Supplies: A portable stove and fuel ($40-$50)
  1. First Aid Kit (Approx. $50-$75)
  • Basic First Aid Supplies: Bandages, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, scissors, etc. ($30-$50)
  • Prescription Medications: A supply of any necessary prescriptions (Varies)
  • Over-the-Counter Medications: Pain relievers, anti-diarrhea medication, etc. ($20-$25)
  1. Shelter and Warmth (Approx. $150-$200)
  • Tent: A basic 2-person tent ($80-$120)
  • Sleeping Bag: Appropriate for the climate ($50-$70)
  • Thermal Blankets: Compact and retain body heat ($20-$30)
  1. Lighting and Power (Approx. $50-$75)
  • Flashlight and/or Headlamp: Plus extra batteries ($20-$30)
  • Solar Charger: For charging phones and other small electronics ($30-$50)

  • Sturdy Lock: To secure your belongings ($35-$75)
